The Washington Wizards went through ups, downs during the 2006-07 seasons. The team lost Jarred Matthews to Detroit while Calvin Booth went to the Philadelphia 76ers. The team acquired Javarr Crittenton and Mike James. The Wizards made several trades in the offseason. They sent Obinna Ekezie to the Dallas Mavericks and Antawn Jamison to the Dallas Mavericks.

In 2006, the Wizards boasted the most prolific scoring trio in the NBA. Chris Webber led the team in scoring (20 ppg), rebounding (10.3) and blocks (1.9). In the offseason, the Wizards made several trades including the acquisition of Davis Bertans (sharpshooter) and Etan Thomas (guard). They also waived Fenny Falmagne. They also signed forward Oleksiy Percherov, guard Dominic McGuire, and forward Juwan Henry, as well as forward Juwan Harding.

The Wizards traded Caron Howard for Caron Butler. The Wizards also traded Antawn Jamison, who was suspended for one season for sexting. Several members of the Wizards' coaching staff, including Dee Brown and Tony Brown, were hired as assistant coaches to Scott Brooks. Sidney Lowe also was hired as an assistant coach by the Wizards.

After the season, Randy Wittman, assistant coach with the Wizards was fired. Scott Brooks was hired to be the Wizards' head coach. Brooks was the Wizards' Head Coach from 2016-2021. Brooks also served as the Wizards' general manager. He now focuses on roster construction, analytics, and salary cap management. He has also hired a new assistant coach, Mike Terpstra.

Two women have been added to the Wizards' coaching team. Kristi Toliver will serve as assistant coach for player-development. Toliver is the NBA's first active WNBA player. She also participated in the five-on-5 scrimmages of the Wizards.
